When a family purchased an historic Victorian in Dorchester, they found it full of 80s brass light fixtures and overly-ornate, heavy drapery. Our goal was to update the space for a busy family of 6 while honoring the original home design.

For the family room pictured here, we instantly brightened and updated the space with coats of fresh paint. Using the same neutral white for the upper wall and ceiling opened the space and created height.

This was to be the room for family movie nights, so a comfy sectional and large wall-mounted TV were a must. We used reupholstered Victorian parlor chairs, a large vintage rug and an eclectic collection of art and objects to create a unique transitional space that felt both cozy and historic.
