About
Katy came to interiors in a roundabout (but full-circle) way. Her first college major was architecture, but what she truly loved was interiors. Her university didn’t offer that program, so when 4 years of engineering courses didn’t sound like her cup of tea, she switched to graphic design.
At heart, she was always a visual problem-solver. On paper, on signage, in annual reports: lines, balance, color, and movement.
After receiving her MFA and working in graphic design for 20 years, she was ready to return to interiors. For Katy, interiors are very intuitive, but further reflection on decisions always finds a foundation in her two decades of practicing and teaching 2-dimensional design.
